What wrong with living close to the center? I would absolutely hate to live the suburban life. Have museums, fantastic restaurants, bars, etc on my doorstep is awesome. And at 200k anyone can eassilly afford a beautiful 2 3 room new build flat pretty much anywhere for rent.
